Feast of Words Celebration

On May 2, the SCCS Upper School held our second annual Convivium Verborum, our Feast of Words celebration, where students recited monologues and speeches from the literature books they have read this year. Selections included The Lord of the Rings, The Oresteia, Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Beowulf, Murder in the Cathedral, and A Tale of Two Cities. This Feast is a classical showcase where memory (grammar), reason (logic), and delivery (rhetoric) combine to delight both the orators and the audience. SCCS endeavors to train servant leaders who love goodness, truth, and beauty, and this is one of the best ways for us to accomplish our mission.
