Knowing God is not just knowing about Him

Logic & Rhetoric School’s weekly chapel creates space for students to pause from their studies to worship, intentionally connect with the Lord, and grow in their faith. A portion of each chapel includes students hearing from a guest speaker, such as a local pastor or other Christian speaker. This week, Kim Arthur (mom to three SCCS students and our very own Director of Advancement) encouraged our students to press into a knowing of God that isn’t merely an intellectual pursuit.

Kim shared that one of her greatest concerns for her own children growing up in the church and in a Christian school is that they would settle for simply being around the things of God and gathering head knowledge about God without knowing God, growing under His love, and loving God in return.

Mrs. Arthur’s concluding charge to the students is a worthy charge to us as well:

Please don’t settle for just being around the things and people of God without seeking to know God Himself. Seek to know Him personally and allow all the knowledge you gain to color how you study, how you relate to your peers and teachers, and how you experience joy in learning and life.
