Building Strong Foundations: Where Students Delight in Learning and Grow in Faith

Seattle Classical Christian School’s Grammar School (Kindergarten–6th grade) provides a strong beginning in academics, wisdom, and character. These are the years when children delight in learning, develop habits of virtue, and are formed by a biblical worldview that touches every subject and every relationship.

Rooted in Scripture and shaped by the classical tradition, our classes nurture both intellect and heart. Students grow in confidence as readers, writers, mathematicians, and thinkers, while also learning to love what is good, true, and beautiful. In a joyful and structured environment, caring teachers guide them to form habits of attentiveness, honor, and stewardship. Elementary school at SCCS lays the foundation for the reasoning years of middle school and the leadership years of high school, while shaping lifelong learners who love God and His world.

What Makes SCCS Different?

SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL FORMATION

We shape hearts and minds through habits of wisdom, honor, self-control, and stewardship.

BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW

Every subject is taught in light of God’s truth, helping children understand the world through Scripture and see Christ at the center of all learning.

Strong Academic Foundations

Students gain strong skills in reading, writing, math, history, and science, forming a foundation for future growth.

Enriched Learning

From Latin to art, music, P.E., and unique field trips, students discover the joy of learning through both classical study and hands-on experiences.

How We Build Joyful Foundations

  • Christ-Centered Community

Teachers meet students with joy and personal care, fostering belonging, friendship, and a love of learning rooted in the gospel.

  • Joyful Academics for Curious Minds

Children build skills in reading, writing, math, science, and history while engaging daily with Scripture, chants, and rich stories that shape both knowledge and imagination.

  • Gospel-Centered Character Formation

Education is about who students are becoming, not just what they know. Through liturgy, habits, and example, they grow in honor, wisdom, stewardship, and self-control.

  • Embedded Biblical Perspective

Every subject is taught in light of God’s Word, helping students think well with Christian presuppositions and discern truth in a complex world.

  • Memory and Recitation

In these prime memorization years, children joyfully commit Scripture, poetry, math facts, and history timelines to memory—knowledge they will carry for life.

  • Latin and the Arts

Students begin Latin in 1st grade and explore art, music, P.E., and drama, cultivating creativity and an appreciation for beauty.

  • Unique Experiences

Field trips and special events connect classroom learning to God’s world, from symphonies and museums to science labs and nature explorations.

Academic Excellence with a Biblical Foundation

Elementary years are when students gain the skills and habits that shape all future learning. At SCCS, academics are not simply about mastering facts—they are about cultivating curiosity, discipline, and delight in discovery.

Our curriculum guides show how each subject is taught through the lens of a biblical worldview, weaving faith and learning into a coherent whole. With clear goals and intentional progression across grades, students are equipped with both knowledge and wisdom as they prepare for the years ahead.

We’ve loved the care and education our boys have had at SCCS... The community of people surrounding them and the focus on character formation as they learn are some of the things we appreciate most at SCCS.
— Nanfelt Family
SCCS is the best (and only) place we’d send our kids. It’s a true partner in their character development and pursuit of discipleship. The community is sweet, the teachers are godly and loving, the academics are challenging... and our kids are happy.
