Kindergarten

Seattle Classical Christian School’s Kindergarten program offers a joyful and steady start to schooling, helping children grow in confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning while laying strong academic and spiritual foundations.

Rooted in Scripture and guided by the classical tradition, Kindergarten at SCCS balances structure and play, beauty and order, and purposeful work with wonder. Students learn through rich stories, phonics-based reading, hands-on mathematics, music, art, and outdoor play. Thoughtful routines and a warm classroom culture help children feel secure and known, inviting them into meaningful learning each day. Each child is cared for as a whole person—spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

Kindergarten at SCCS is a Christ-centered beginning, forming habits of wisdom, virtue, and joyful learning.

The SCCS Kindergarten Experience

SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL FORMATION

With the Gospel at the center, students learn habits of stewardship, honor, wisdom, and self-control.

JOYFUL LEARNING

Children engage in meaningful work that builds attention, perseverance, and confidence while preserving the joy of early learning.

BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW

God’s Word is the foundation for every subject, guiding how students learn, think, and live.

CURIOSITY AND WONDER

Through stories, exploration, and hands-on learning, children discover God’s world with joy and curiosity.

A Steady and Joyful Daily Rhythm

Consistent routines help Kindergarten students feel secure and confident as they move through the school day. At SCCS, the daily rhythm is intentionally shaped by prayer, learning, play, and rest. This offers children a steady pattern they can count on as they grow in independence.

Within that rhythm, students learn to listen, take turns, persevere through challenges, and take pride in meaningful work. They gather for worship, mark special moments such as birthdays and the seasons of the liturgical calendar, and participate in all-school gatherings like chapel. Regular interaction with older students helps Kindergarten students grow in confidence and feel a strong sense of belonging within our Christ-centered community.

Throughout the year, Kindergarten students also take part in local explorations and field trips that take learning beyond the classroom, inviting them to notice God’s creation, serve their neighbors, and connect what they are learning to the world around them.

SCCS is the best (and only) place we’d send our kids. It’s a true partner in their character development and pursuit of discipleship. The community is sweet, the teachers are godly and loving, the academics are challenging... and our kids are happy.
— Kristin, SCCS Parent
Our son came into Kindergarten having spent no prior time in preschool. We knew it would be a challenge—and it has been, in lots of good ways. He’s loved his new friendships and is growing in self-control and confidence. We are so thankful for SCCS in his life.
— Luke, SCCS Parent
It has been a joy to watch our daughter grow during her kindergarten year. She loves the consistent schedule, growing in independence, and developing friendships with her classmates as well as students from other grades. She often comes home eager to share what she’s learning... We really are glad we chose SCCS.

I chose SCCS for my children because I wanted their hearts to be shaped along with their minds, and I now serve in Admissions because I see firsthand the transformation that happens when children are known, loved, and pursued in excellence. I yearned for a place where students thrive and families find community - and my family experiences that here at SCCS.
