Supplemental student services
2025-2026
SCCS believes that every child is made in the image of God, on purpose and for a purpose. We want to honor each child and ensure they receive what they need to succeed in and out of the classroom. This year, we’re excited to offer a few additional student services designed to help students flourish in their daily lives at SCCS.
Our teachers and student support staff will continue to give each child the attention and help they need to flourish in their classrooms – this has not changed. For some students, however, the level of need may go beyond what is possible within our regular programming. We want to come alongside our families to offer additional support rather than sending families elsewhere. These new supplemental supports will be available during the school day and at a comparably lower fee than similar services outside of SCCS.
The description of these services is below. If you are interested, please complete the linked interest form.
Please note: each service will only be offered if there is enough interest. Please fill out the form only if you are ready to commit. If we are able to move forward, you will receive a sign-up form soon.
SOCIAL SKILLS
While our classrooms already emphasize virtue and adaptive skills, some children benefit from extra time set aside to practice these important social habits. These classes will be offered to students during a time that will not interfere with core classroom learning. Participation will be based on parent recommendation.
Kindergarten to 2nd Grade: A playful, guided space for students to practice friendship, problem-solving, and healthy communication.
Healthy social skills begin early in life. This class will give students the opportunity to practice building friendships, solving problems, and recognizing and expressing emotions in healthy ways. Through games and role-play, students will grow in age-appropriate skills that help them communicate as God designed.3rd to 6th Grade: An engaging space for students to practice empathy, communication, and relationship skills through interactive activities.
This class will focus on strengthening relationships and learning to communicate with compassion and clarity. Students will practice skills through activities such as conversation Jenga, charades, role reversal, and random acts of kindness challenges, all designed to help them interact with peers in meaningful ways.7th – 8th Grade & 9th – 12th Grade: A guided setting for upper school students to strengthen communication, connection, and confidence in real-world social situations.
Strong social skills are a vital part of teenage development. In this class, students will learn how to engage in meaningful conversations, explore each other’s interests, and practice structured social situations through team games and role-play. The goal is to help students grow in their ability to connect with both peers and adults in authentic, thoughtful ways.
LUNCH BUNCH
While our classrooms are designed to serve a wide range of learners, some students benefit from additional opportunities to stretch their creativity and critical thinking beyond the regular curriculum. Lunch Bunch is designed for students who would benefit from intentional and focused academic challenge. Participation will be based on both parent interest and teacher recommendation. If you are interested, please complete the interest form below. We will cross-reference your interest with teacher recommendations.
3rd to 6th Grade: A space for students to explore creativity and higher-order thinking through project-based learning.
This pull-out program will meet during lunch and is designed for children who need an extra academic challenge. Students will eat together while previewing the day’s activity, then spend the remainder of the time working on projects that develop critical thinking and creativity.7th to 8th Grade & 9th to 12th Grade: A project-based course that brings together bright and gifted learners to collaborate on complex challenges.
While we believe deeply in the value of diverse thinkers learning side by side in the regular classroom, some students also benefit from the chance to work with peers who share a similar learning profile. In this course, students will take on projects such as the CSPAN StudentCam competition, board game design, and Shark Tank–style presentations. Because the class meets once a week, some work will be completed outside of class time.
EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SUPPORT
Grades 7–12: One-on-one support to strengthen organization, time management, and study habits.
Through targeted instruction tailored to each student’s needs, this service will help build essential cognitive and behavioral skills such as organization, time management, working memory, and task initiation. The goal is to equip students with practical tools they can carry into every area of academic and social life. Students will be accepted based on parent recommendation. We will work with parents and students to determine the best time of week for this to occur.
READING SUPPORT
Grades [2-12]: Targeted support for students with reading-related learning differences/struggles.
This push-in or pull-out service is designed to provide specialized instruction for students whose diagnosed disabilities affect their ability to read. Students will be accepted based on parent interest and teacher recommendation.
COST:
Supplemental Student Support services are billed based on how often they meet: $100 per month for once a week, $200 per month for twice a week. Sign-ups are per semester.
For the fall semester, a once-a-week service totals $500; for the spring semester, $400. Details about how often each service or class is offered can be found in the Interest form .
If you have any questions on whether your student would benefit from these supplemental services, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher and Christina Rosenhauer.
