Praying Through Matthew
As a school, we are midway through our study of the Gospel of Matthew. This week during Morning Meeting, Dr. Cooper led students through key truths we’ve encountered together in Scripture, offering a prayer prompt and time to reflect quietly before the Lord. Below are the reflections students encountered, along with the simple prayer prompts you may wish to consider together as a family.
God is faithful to His promises and at work in our story (Matthew 1:21–23)
Lord, thank You that You are faithful. Help me trust You with my own story, even the parts I do not yet understand. The Kingdom begins with repentance and wholehearted following (Matthew 4:17, 19)
Jesus, show me where You are calling me to turn and follow You more honestly.True blessedness is a transformed heart, not worldly success (Matthew 5:3–10)
Form in me the kind of heart You call blessed, not the kind the world applauds.God desires sincerity, not spiritual performance (Matthew 6:1, 6)
Father, teach me to live for Your eyes, not for the approval of others. The life of the Kingdom is marked by trust, not anxiety (Matthew 6:33–34)
God, I place my worries before You. Help me trust Your provision and timing.Jesus has authority over sickness, sin, and fear (Matthew 8:26; 9:2, 6)
Lord, grow my faith. Help me trust Your power in my life, not just admire it from a distance.Disciples are sent, not just instructed (Matthew 10:7–8, 32)
Jesus, give me boldness to live as Your disciple and represent You faithfully.Jesus invites us to come to Him with our weakness and rest in His care (Matthew 11:28)
Lord, I bring You what I have and who I am. Teach me to rest in You and trust You to work. The way we receive God’s Word reveals our hearts (Matthew 13:23)
Lord, give me a heart that truly hears You and bears lasting fruit.Faith means fixing our eyes on Jesus in the storm (Matthew 14:29–31)
Jesus, when I am afraid or overwhelmed, help me keep my eyes on You.
