Student Support at SCCS

At Seattle Classical Christian School, we believe every child is made in the image of God—on purpose and for a purpose. Our aim is to know each student well and support their growth both in and out of the classroom.

Our teachers provide attentive, individualized care within the daily rhythm of school—this is a core part of the SCCS experience, not an add-on. At times, however, a student may benefit from more targeted or specialized support.

In addition to what is already integrated into our classrooms, we offer optional, fee-based student support services designed to meet specific areas of need. These services take place during the school day, allowing families to access additional support without the need to coordinate outside providers or add to an already full schedule.

A Thoughtful Approach

When additional support is considered, decisions are guided by a combination of parent input and teacher insight. Our goal is always to serve each student wisely—offering support where it is helpful while preserving the integrity of the classroom experience.

SOCIAL SKILLS

While our classrooms naturally cultivate virtue, friendship, and communication, some students benefit from additional, intentional practice in these areas. These small-group sessions provide guided opportunities for students to grow in awareness, communication, and connection with others.

  • Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: A playful, structured setting where students practice friendship, problem-solving, and expressing emotions in healthy ways. Through games and role-play, students build foundational habits for strong relationships.

  • 3rd – 6th Grade: An engaging environment focused on empathy, communication, and relational awareness. Students participate in interactive activities that help them navigate friendships with clarity and kindness.

  • 7th – 12th Grade: A guided space for students to strengthen confidence and communication in real-world social settings. Students practice conversation skills, collaboration, and thoughtful engagement with peers and adults.

Academic Enrichment

Some students benefit from additional academic challenge beyond the core classroom. Our enrichment offerings provide space for deeper thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

  • 3rd - 6th Grade: A project-based experience during lunch where students explore creative and critical thinking challenges. Students preview the day’s work together, then engage in hands-on projects that stretch their thinking.

  • 7th - 12th Grade: A collaborative, project-based course for students who thrive on complex challenges. Projects may include competitions, design work, or presentation-based experiences that encourage initiative and creativity.

Executive Functioning Support (Grades 7–12)

One-on-one support designed to strengthen organization, time management, and study habits. Students receive individualized coaching to build practical skills such as planning, task initiation, and follow-through. These are tools students carry into every area of academic and daily life.

Reading Support (Grades 2–12)

Targeted support for students with reading-related challenges. This service provides specialized instruction for students whose learning differences impact reading. Support may take place within the classroom or in a small-group setting, depending on the student’s needs.
